The normally reserved Ray Allen’s reaction to Danny Green breaking his NBA Finals record of made three-pointers is a subtle sign that the sharpshooting guard has had enough of someone stealing his thunder.
When the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs take to the court in Game 6, expect the future Hall of Famer to make some noise.
Not that it ever wasn’t there. Allen has quietly seen his minutes increase during these finals and with it, his production.
Against the Spurs, Allen is sinking a blistering 65 percent of his shots, including 52 percent from three-point land, off the bench. While the Heat’s shooting efficiency has fluctuated over the last five games, Allen is one of the few that is consistently shooting well.
If the Heat want to match Green’s production, Allen has the best shot at doing it. While he may not be known as a defender, Miami needs consistent scoring over defense now that the series returns to South Beach and they have the home crowd backing them up.
