Will Make 15-Man Roster: Chalmers, Arroyo, Beverley, House
Starter: Carlos Arroyo. If the Heat start a traditional point guard and don’t begin the game with LeBron James or Dwyane Wade handling the ball, it will come down to Chalmers or Arroyo.
While Arroyo is the smarter, more seasoned of the two, Chalmers is the better three point shooter and defender, both skills Miami will need out of the position this year. Mario is, however, recovering from a high ankle sprain, so it remains to be seen how effective he will be early on.
Depth: Behind Arroyo and Chalmers is House, a gifted shooter, and Beverley, an athletic defensive-oriented guard. House should see time at this spot because he is one of the best shooters on the team. Beverley, if he makes the roster, is an intriguing player. He’s very raw on offense, but defends on the perimeter with tenacity.
