Memphis Grizzlies Show Effort and Talent in Win Against Dallas

For one game, the Memphis Grizzlies showed its fans their potential.

Memphis beat a hot Dallas Mavericks team Friday night at FedEx Forum, 98-82.

It had to be the most complete win of the young season against a team that came into the game with a 14-5 record.

"We're kidding ourselves if we think we're going to put forth the effort we did and win," said Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry said to the Dallas Morning News after the game.

That is something you would (and did) hear from the Grizzlies earlier this season.

Dallas would say that they took the Grizzlies lightly and came out soft. By the way, the word "soft" was their word, not mine.


But no matter the reason, Memphis began this three-game homestand with a big-time win against a big-time Western Conference team.

Dallas gambled and dared Memphis to beat them with jump shots.

Rudy Gay, O.J. Mayo, and Mike Conley answered by collectively shooting 9-14 from three-point range, and the team played enough defense to win.
