Free-agent point guard Mario Chalmers is still in search of a new home for a ninth NBA season after being released by the Memphis Grizzlies in March.

Defending Champs Showing Interest In Chalmers Friday, Oct. 14 According to ESPN's Marc Stein on Friday, there are rumors swirling that the Cleveland Cavaliers have "strong interest" in bringing on Chalmers once he is healthy. 

Chalmers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in March after being traded from the Miami Heat to the Memphis Grizzlies, a team riddled with injuries. 

With just seven healthy men on their roster at the time he went down, Chalmers had to be cut in order to open a spot for an able player. 

In 55 games with them, the 30-year-old recorded 10.8 points, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. 

He played his first seven-plus seasons in the NBA with the Heat in which he was teammates with Cavaliers star LeBron James for four seasons from 2010-2014.
