Marc Gasol Injury: Updates on Grizzlies Center’s Abdomen

The Memphis Grizzlies will have to continue their quest for a home playoff series without center Marc Gasol for the time being, as he has injured his abdominal muscle and will have to miss time.

CBS Sports' Ken Berger provided details on Gasol's injury:



With no return date set, Memphis will have a hole to fill at center for its Saturday-night game against the Boston Celtics. 

The injury comes at a terrible time for Gasol and the Grizzlies. The All-Star big man is coming off an incredible performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder in which he had 14 points and 15 rebounds on Wednesday. 

But he made his biggest contribution when he tipped in the game-winning shot in overtime to take down the Thunder.

However, Memphis followed up that performance with a dud against the New Orleans Hornets, and that disappointing loss dropped it to 46-22 on the season. The Grizzlies are currently in a dogfight with the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets for the third and fourth playoff spots in the Western Conference.
