Los Angeles Lakers: Marcus Camby Should Be Target for Lakers

With the money given to players like Roy Hibbert and Omer Asik this offseason, the Lakers will have a hard time finding a young, talented big man to sign with them. While re-signing Jordan Hill is still an option, Marcus Camby would make the most sense for both sides.

At 38, Camby has yet to win a championship in his career and after making millions of dollars over the last two decades, he should consider taking a pay cut to sign with a contender. 

Part of the reason the Lakers struggled against Oklahoma City this spring was that they lacked quality play up front when Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum had to sit. While he's not a great scorer, Camby is still a very good rebounder and shot blocker. Last year, the big man averaged nine rebounds per game to go along with 1.4 blocks per game. 

Camby could be signed at the veteran's minimum which would help the Lakers out because of their luxury tax situation. Los Angeles is already paying over $80 million in salary next season and still have to sign a few more players to their roster.
