The Los Angeles Clippers lost Game 4 of their first-round playoff series with the Portland Trail Blazers 98-84 on Monday to knot the matchup at two games apiece. But the Clippers lost something more important than a game in the third quarter: superstar point guard Chris Paul.
Per the Orange County Register's Dan Woike, Paul fractured the third metacarpal in his right hand. His status for the remainder of the playoffs is unknown, but a broken hand is rarely a small issue. Blake Griffin is also still dealing with a hamstring issue and left the game early in the fourth quarter after limping around for part of the period.
Having said that, Portland submitted an excellent performance, especially defensively and on the glass. The Blazers won the rebounding battle 58-42, grabbing 16 offensive rebounds. They also held the Clippers to 35.7 percent shooting, forcing many contested outside jumpers.
