Lance Stephenson Injury: Updates on Pacers Guard’s Back and Return

February 4th, 2014 by Scott Polacek Leave a reply »

Almost everything has gone right for the Indiana Pacers this season, but the Eastern Conference’s best team record-wise received some unwelcome news during its game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Lance Stephenson, who was arguably one of the biggest snubs when the All-Star Game lineups were announced, left the contest with a sore back, per the Indiana Pacers' official Twitter page and Brooke Olzendam of Fox Sports Indiana:

Stephenson was playing well before exiting. He had 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.

On the season, Stephenson was posting nightly averages of 14.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists coming into the game. He has been one of the best all-around performers for the Pacers all season and will be needed in the second half of the year as the playoffs approach.

Look for Indiana, which has a multiple-game lead on the Miami Heat for the Eastern Conference’s best record, to rest Stephenson until he is completely ready to return.
