Aldridge Suffers Back Spasms Friday, Jan. 22 The Spurs announced that Aldridge will be out of the lineup Friday after suffering back spasms.

This would be a difficult setback for the Spurs if Aldridge is out for extended time, especially since he already missed games earlier in the season because of an ankle sprain.

San Antonio added Aldridge to a loaded roster in the offseason, which instantly made it one of the favorites to win the title. The former Portland Trail Blazers star averaged more than 21 points per game in each of the last five campaigns and has four All-Star appearances on his resume. Thus far, he is posting 15.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest during the 2015-16 campaign.

He stretches the floor with his mid-range jumper, can beat defenders in one-on-one situations in the post and brings steady rebounding to both ends of the court.

The Spurs have frontcourt depth that can fill the void during Aldridge’s absence, though.
