Lamar Odom Reportedly Will Avoid Cocaine Charges Following Hospitalization

Former NBA forward Lamar Odom reportedly will not face criminal cocaine charges related to his October drug overdose at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada, according to TMZ Sports.

The Nye County District Attorney's office is expected to make a formal announcement later this week. Odom, 36, was released last week from the hospital after a nearly three-month stay.

He was initially transported to a medical facility Oct. 13 after overdosing on a cocktail of drugs that included cocaine, opiates and pills for sexual performance. Given a dire initial prognosis—doctors gave him a 50-50 shot at survival—Odom has gradually improved and began going through medical therapy to improve his motor and speech skills.

TMZ reported Odom had improved enough that he took three steps without a walker for the first time in December. He also has increased use of his hands and brain function. The improvements led to his being transported away from the hospital and into a rehab facility in Los Angeles last week. Family spokesperson Alvina Alston categorized Odom's recovery as "miraculous and continued," per ESPN.c ...
