Kyrie Irving Illness: Updates on Cavaliers Star’s Status and Return

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving is dealing with flu-like symptoms. It is uncertain when he will return to action.

Irving Out for 2nd Half vs. Thunder Sunday, Feb. 21 Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal passed along word of Irving's absence. The point guard exited during the first half and was considered questionable to return.

Irving Has Resumed Strong Play After Serious Injury Irving missed the first 24 games of the regular season after recovering from surgery to repair a broken left kneecap he suffered during the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. 

He was set to make his return on Dec. 16 against the Oklahoma City Thunder but personally refuted those rumors. He was able to come back three days later against the Philadelphia 76ers.


When he's on the floor, Irving is one of the most lethal, well-rounded point guards in the game. During his first four seasons before this campaign, he averaged 20.9 points and 5.7 assists.
