Kris Humphries Re-Signs with Hawks: Contract Details, Analysis and Reaction

The Atlanta Hawks retained a key player from their frontcourt rotation by re-signing free-agent big man Kris Humphries on Monday.

Humphries announced his return to Atlanta on Twitter:



Shams Charania of The Vertical reported Humphries' contract is a one-year deal worth $4 million.

Known throughout his career for crashing the glass and being a solid backup, Humphries is a journeyman who played for three different teams last season alone.

The Washington Wizards traded Humphries to the Phoenix Suns in February, but Phoenix waived him after reaching a buyout agreement. That's when the Hawks swooped in to sign the forward ahead of their playoff run.

KL Chouinard of the team's official website weighed in on Humphries' return:



Having expanded his shooting range in recent years, the 31-year-old has increased his value—and Atlanta saw enough from Humphries in only 21 regular-season games and four postseason contests to keep him around.
