Kobe Bryant: MVP Is Outduelled By Crosstown Rival

Kobe Bryant isn't going to admit that the Clippers are a rival, but his comments and the outcome point that one is brewing. The Lakers lost on Sunday night to the suddenly red-hot Clippers, 99-92. 

"I'm sure the next time we play them," Kobe said after the loss "we'll be a little bit more ready physically to match up with them."

The Clippers were sparked by 30 points from Eric Gordon and 18 points and 15 rebounds from rookie sensation, Blake Griffin.

"... Blake just ran through us," Kobe said of Griffin's night. "We didn't have anybody that was going to put up a stand."

He wasn't the only Laker that noticed. With the game in hand and the seconds ticking away, Griffin and Lamarr Odom got a little extracurricular on a rebound. Griffin slammed into Odom's back after a made free throw while trying to get in position for a possible rebound. Odom grabbed Griffin while offering what I assume is some non-friendly advice.

Baron Davis rushed in and pushed Odom as Griffin walked away and then much chest puffing and ejections ensued. This certainly adds some intrigue in what may finally be a compelling in-town rivalry. For more on thi ...
