Kobe Bryant Injury: Updates on Lakers Star’s Achilles and Return

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant continues to battle injuries in his farewell season, as he is now on the bench with an Achilles strain. It is uncertain when he will return to the court.

Bryant Out vs. Jazz Sunday, Jan. 10 Baxter Holmes of ESPN.com passed along word of Bryant's absence for Sunday's contest against Utah.

Bryant Banged Up and Slowing Down in Final Season The Lakers have been cautious in how they've used Bryant this season. He missed time early in January with a sore right shoulder and has sat out because of rest or injury at various points in the season.

Given how fragile Bryant has been the previous two campaigns, as well as the years of wear and tear on his body over 20 NBA seasons, he's going to need more rest than the average player. 

Times are tough in Los Angeles right now. Bryant is struggling in his final season, shooting a career-worst 35 percent from the floor, and the Lakers own the Western Conference's worst record.
