Knicks Will Reportedly Not Match Raptors’ Landry Fields Offer Sheet

Shooting guard Landry Fields is reportedly going to be a Toronto Raptor. The club signed the restricted free agent to an offer sheet, which the New York Knicks currently have a chance to match and retain his services. 

According to New York Newsday's Al Iannazzone the Knicks will be doing no such thing. 

The Knicks are not matching the offer sheet to Landry Fields, his agent said.

— Al Iannazzone (@Al_Iannazzone) July 15, 2012 The Raptors reportedly signed Fields to a three-year offer sheet worth close to $20 million. After the Raptors signed Fields to that deal, Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo did not appear confident that would be enough to dissuade the Knicks from matching. 

He told reporters, and was quoted by ESPN's Ian Begley, that "the Knicks have informed me they are very interested in retaining Landry." 

The Knicks' reluctance to match is not shocking. Fields, 24, had a solid rookie season, but took a step back last year, as he averaged just 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He also saw his shooting percentages drop, hitting just 46 percent of his field g ...
