Kirk Hinrich Injury: Updates on Bulls Guard’s Leg and Return

Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich suffered a leg injury on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.

Hinrich Out vs. Mavs Friday, Jan. 15 According to Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com, Hinrich has been ruled out for the rest of Friday's game with a contusion on his left quad.

A year after appearing in 66 games for the Bulls, Hinrich battled nagging hip and toe injuries to start the 2015-16 season. He's only appeared in 27 games prior to Friday so far this season, starting in six of them, and averaging a career-low four points and 1.6 assists per game. 

And while Hinrich isn't classically considered a big piece of the puzzle in Chicago, he's undeniably important based on Derrick Rose's lengthy injury history alone.

Hinrich started 143 games combined between the 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons as Rose dealt with debilitating knee injuries, and his ability to provide relief as a complementary ball-handler and passer in times of crisis helped stabilize things for Chicago.
