It’s got to be tough to lose teeth for a team and then be shipped away on the final day to make a trade.
Regardless of the deadline deal, former Houston Rocket Carl Landry made the most of the situation and garnered 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists in his debut for the Sacramento Kings: a 99-89 loss to the LA Clippers.
“I had some good looks, but traveled a couple of times—something I don’t usually do,” Landry told ESPN following Saturday’s loss. “I was just thinking a little too much out there. It was just an off-night, but I don’t think the system had anything to do with it. It’s only going to get better. There’s nowhere to go but up.”
The Kings and newcomer Landry get a shot at redemption this evening when Sacramento faces the Phoenix Suns on the road.
“We never want to make excuses, but we have to get players accustomed to playing together and their new roles,” Sacramento center Spencer Hawes said. “It could be tough on some people. It seems like we find a lot of ways to hurt ourselves especially down the stretch.”
