Kevin Love Injury Update: Cavaliers Star Cleared to Play in Game 4 of NBA Finals

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love was cleared to play in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

The NBA announced the news on Twitter.

Love suffered a concussion during Cleveland’s Game 2 loss when Harrison Barnes inadvertently hit him in the head with an elbow. Love played some in the second half after the incident but eventually took himself out of the contest because of dizziness, per Tom Withers of the Associated Press (h/t Yahoo Sports).

Withers noted the forward was placed in the NBA concussion protocol and missed Game 3. Cleveland head coach Tyronn Lue used Richard Jefferson in the starting lineup and elected to move LeBron James to the power forward role in Love’s absence.

That Love is playing Friday doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal reported he “went through [the] full shootaround.” Lloyd also noted “it’s likely he will come off the bench in Game 4” when discussing Love’s status.
