Kevin Garnett Offered Spot on Cavaliers Coaching Staff

Kevin Garnett has been retired for less than a week, but he already has an offer for the next phase of his career.

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue provided an open invitation Thursday for the former power forward to join the coaching staff.

"I talked to him about it," Lue said, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com. "I know his wife is pushing for it a lot. Brandi is pushing for it, trying to get him to come and coach. He says he's not ready yet. He goes back—'I might do it'—but he's back and forth. We'll see. But I'd definitely make a spot for him if he wanted to come back and coach."

Garnett announced his retirement from the NBA on Friday after spending 21 seasons in the league.

The 40-year-old is a surefire Hall of Famer as a 15-time All-Star who finished his career averaging 17.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He spent time with the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics, but he is best known for his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves when he had nine consecutive seasons averaging more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.
