Per NBA.com, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant won the 2013-14 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player award by receiving 119 out of a possible 125 first-place votes. With the honor, Durant becomes the first player since Allen Iverson in 2000-01 to win both the league scoring title and MVP award in the same season, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Not only did Durant come away with two of the league's most prestigious honors—it really wasn't all that close.
His 32 points per game put him 4.6 ahead of New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, who finished second with 27.4. The gap between Durant and Anthony was larger than that between Anthony and eighth-leading scorer LaMarcus Aldridge, who averaged 23.2 points per game for the Portland Trail Blazers, falling 4.2 behind Anthony.
The MVP race was just as much of a blowout, as Durant totaled 1,232 points in the voting, while Miami Heat forward LeBron James finished second with just 891 points. James—who won the previous two MVP awards and four of the last five—received each of the six first-place votes that didn't go to Durant.
