The only thing more surprising with the Boston Celtics releasing their big man, Kendrick Perkins, would be the Thunder signing him to an extension before he has even proven himself in Scoot Brooks' rotation. But the NBA has turned into the league of mind-altering moves, so it should have been expected.
Although, a lot of people fee like Boston may have made a huge mistake by replacing one of their low post powers with the younger, defensively challenged player they received in Jeff Green, Oklahoma City has yet to see how important Perkins will be alongside instrumental pieces like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and defensive machine Thabo Sefolosha.
Not only that, but he is so plagued by injury, I would have expected the Thunder to see how many, if any games he would play post-All-Star Break for them.
He stepped onto the team with a pre-existing injury and probably will not play a game until around March 18 or, at least, the team hopes.
