After making him the No. 1 overall pick in June's NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves have officially made Karl-Anthony Towns a part of their franchise by signing him to a contract.
The Timberwolves announced deals with Towns and Tyus Jones, who was taken 24th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers and his rights were subsequently traded to Minnesota, in an official press release on NBA.com.
Terms were not disclosed, though the rookie wage scaled listed on RealGM.com for 2015-16 shows that Towns will make $4.7 million this season and $4.9 million next season.
According to the release, Towns is scheduled to play with the Timberwolves' summer league team in Las Vegas starting July 10.
After the Timberwolves took Towns first overall, head coach Flip Saunders told Jerry Zgoda of the Star-Tribune that the former Kentucky star is capable of doing everything on a basketball court: "It’s everything. He plays with a great passion. He plays hard. He’s multiskilled. When you see him warming up, you’re going to think we drafted a point guard.”
