Jusuf Nurkic Injury: Updates on Nuggets Star’s Ankle and Return

Denver Nuggets big man Jusuf Nurkic suffered a sprained ankle in the team's 112-110 win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, according to the Denver Post's Chris Dempsey.

Nurkic to Be Evaluated Further Wednesday, Jan. 13 According to Dempsey, Nurkic told reporters he doesn't believe the injury is serious. However, tests on Thursday are expected to provide some more clarity.   

The Nuggets hoped to see a leap from Nurkic in his second season after he earned a second-team All-Rookie distinction in 2014-15 with 6.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 17.8 minutes a night, so this is a significant blow if the big man is forced to sit out extensive time.

He entered Wednesday averaging 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks after dealing with a slow recovery from an offseason surgery at the start of the schedule.

The 21-year-old is part of a rebuilding effort for the Nuggets that also includes rookie ball-handler Emmanuel Mudiay (who dealt with an ankle injury early in the season).
