Shooting guard J.R. Smith remains the most prominent unrestricted free agent on the market this NBA offseason after turning down his player option with the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason.

Cleveland Remains Most Likely Destination for SmithMonday, August 17Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes Smith will ultimately re-sign with the Cavs, noting, "The Cavs have made him an offer. I hear it's less than $6.4 million that he turned down. They know Smith is not thrilled with a lesser deal. But right now, he has no leverage, and a one-year contract puts him in position to cash in next summer when the salary cap rises 30 percent."

While Smith has had disciplinary issues throughout his career, he was a valuable role player for Cleveland last season, averaging 12.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 46 regular-season games and 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds during the postseason.

He was a major contributor during the playoffs, especially with the injuries to Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving limiting the team's scoring options, though he faltered during the NBA Finals, shooting just 31.2 percent from the field.
