Josh Smith Injury: Updates on Hawks Star’s Knee Injury

A bad night got worse for the Atlanta Hawks, as Josh Smith injured his left knee while the team was in the process of losing to the Rajon Rondo-less Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, 87-80. 

The series is now tied at one and headed back to Boston. 

Update: Tuesday, May 1 at 11:33 p.m. ET

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Smith is headed for an MRI.

Smith will have an MRI exam on Wednesday in Atlanta.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) May 2, 2012 The Hawks are certainly going to take all precautions necessary with their star. And hopefully this is just a matter of that. Although, it is always a nervous time when an athlete's knee is headed towards the MRI machine. 

 

Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears tweeted the nature of the injury:
