Jose Calderon has another year left on his current deal with the New York Knicks, but his departure from the Big Apple could come sooner rather than later.

Knicks Looking at Other Options at Point GuardMonday, Feb. 15ESPN.com's Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst reported Monday that the Knicks are doing everything they can to move the veteran point guard ahead of Thursday's trade deadline at 3 p.m. ET. Citing sources, Stein and Windhorst wrote the Knicks are "talking up Calderon's leadership" and could include center Kyle O'Quinn in order to facilitate a possible trade.

Trading Calderon would allow New York to shift its focus even more so on acquiring Jeff Teague. ESPN.com's Ian Begley reported on Jan. 27 that the Knicks were discussing a possible move with the Atlanta Hawks for the 2015 All-Star.

Not only will a trade for Teague prove difficult, but the front office will have a hard time finding a suitor for Calderon. Even with the salary cap increasing next year, few teams will be willing to assume the $7.7 million due to the 34-year-old.
