Jonas Valanciunas Injury: Updates on Raptors Center’s Ankle and Return

Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas suffered an ankle injury in Game 3 against the Miami Heat on Saturday, per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press. It's unclear when he will return to the court.

Valanciunas Undergoes X-Rays Saturday, May 7 The Raptors' media relations team announced Valanciunas' "precautionary X-ray" came back negative. He is considered day-to-day as there is nothing structurally wrong with the ankle, according to head coach Dwane Casey, via Reynolds.

Valanciunas Has Become Essential Piece to Raptors Valanciunas has gradually emerged as one of the NBA's most effective centers. In the regular season, he averaged a career-high 12.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, leading the Raptors in rebounding and ranking third in scoring. 


The Raptors have plenty of depth on their roster, particularly at center. Bismack Biyombo can handle rebounding duties, as he ranks second on the team with an average of eight per game.
