Jimmer Fredette, Perry Jones Among Top Selections in 2015-16 NBA D-League Draft

Jeff Ayres, Jimmer Fredette and Perry Jones III are among those who hope to revive their NBA dreams after getting selected with the top three picks in the first round of the 2015 NBA D-League draft.

The Idaho Stampede made Ayres the first overall pick, adding the 28-year-old power forward to their squad. You can view the full first-round results below:



Ayres last played for the San Antonio Spurs, making 51 appearances in the 2014-15 season. In 220 career NBA games, he averaged three points and 2.8 rebounds a night.

Although Ayres could play his way back onto an NBA roster, it's unlikely to be with the Stampede's NBA affiliate, the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have a strong young frontcourt with Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors, and Trey Lyles will likely play a big role for the franchise as well after going 12th overall in the 2015 NBA draft.

For Fredette and Jones, the D-League is an opportunity to get their careers back on track after producing marginal NBA returns to date. They're both former first-round draft picks but have combined to start 28 games.
