After passing Dominique Wilkins for 12th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list Thursday night, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James moved up another notch Friday, surpassing Oscar Robertson for sole possession of 11th place during a 110-108 overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks, per NBA.com/Stats on Twitter.
James finished the contest with 29 points, 16 boards, nine assists, a block, three steals and three turnovers in 44 minutes, narrowly missing out on what would have been his fourth triple-double of the season and third in the past two weeks.
He now has 26,718 career points, putting him eight clear of Robertson (26,710) and 50 ahead of Wilkins (26,668).
James will have to wait until next season to move further up the list, as 10th-place Hakeem Olajuwon (26,946) sits 228 points away, with only six games remaining on Cleveland's regular-season schedule.
Having scored between 1,654 and 2,478 points in each of his 13 NBA seasons, the 31-year-old James could realistically move as high as No. 7 on the all-time scoring list by the end of next season, as seventh-place Shaquille O'Neal (28,596) is only 1,878 points ahead of him.
