Harden is averaging 26 points per game this season, and this will be a huge blow as the team tries to get a victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The injury does not appear to be the result of any specific incident, and is likely due to the rigors of a long and difficult NBA season. This is the second leg of a back-to-back set of games for Houston, and the team has asked a lot from Harden this season.
His 38.3 minutes per game is tied for the fifth-most in the league this season, and his 27.0 usage rate is the 10th-highest mark.
The Rockets are in a precarious position, as the team needs Harden in the playoffs, but may also need him to make the postseason. Houston is just 2.5 games ahead of the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers heading into their showdown with the Clippers.
