JaKarr Sampson Waived by 76ers: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

According to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers will waive JaKarr Sampson. 

Sampson appeared in 47 games for the 76ers this season, averaging 5.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest.

The 22-year-old hasn't had a good start to his NBA career. In two seasons with the 76ers, Sampson has won just 26 games.

In his rookie season, he averaged 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He saw his playing time decrease this year, though, recording just 11 minutes played in February.

Per Wojnarowski, the 76ers cut Sampson to make room for forward Joel Anthony, whom they acquired from the Detroit Pistons on Thursday.

Sampson, who stands at 6'9", brought a shaky mid-range game to the floor, shooting 42.3 percent from the field. However, at just 17.6 percent, his three-point shooting was abysmal this year.

He did not play decisively around the rim despite his size, either, and at 214 pounds, he needs to work on his strength.
