J.J. Barea Injury: Updates on Mavericks PG’s Groin and Return

Dallas Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea left Game 1 of his team's first-round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a groin injury Saturday night. It's unclear when he'll return to the court.

Carlisle Comments on Barea's Status Saturday, April 16 After the game, Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said on the Fox Sports broadcast that he was "very concerned" about Barea's status. 

A timetable for a possible return has not been disclosed as of yet. 

Veteran Barea a Reliable Backup for Mavericks

This groin injury has been nagging Barea for some time now. He was pulled from a regular-season game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Apr. 8 in which he originally suffered the injury. 

He only missed one game, though, as he returned to play over 27 minutes in Dallas' regular-season finale against the Utah Jazz.
