Iman Shumpert Injury: Updates on Cavaliers Guard’s Hamstring and Return

Iman Shumpert's injury woes continue, as the Cleveland Cavaliers guard is dealing with a hamstring issue. An official date for his return to the court this season has yet to be announced.

Shumpert Out vs. 76ers Sunday, Nov. 27 Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue confirmed that Shumpert will miss Sunday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to his hamstring, according to Tom Moore of Calkins Media.

Cavs Need to Preserve Shumpert for Postseason Shumpert left the Cavaliers' season opener against the New York Knicks on Oct. 25 after suffering a head injury that landed him in the NBA's concussion protocol.



Shumpert has served as a part-time bench player in Cleveland. He's still a terrific defender, accounting for 1.8 win shares on that side of the ball last season despite playing just 54 games, per Basketball-Reference.com. The Cavs have J.R. Smith starting at shooting guard and solid depth behind him, with Jordan McRae being capable of handling 10 minutes per game for Lue.
