Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside will miss Monday night's matchup with the Indiana Pacers after suffering a knee injury, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Whiteside Comments on Knee Injury Monday, Jan. 4 Whiteside told reporters he has a bruise around his kneecap, per Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post.

Chris Andersen replaced Whiteside in the starting lineup. Whiteside's injury woes continued in 2015. According to Winderman, Whiteside started camp nursing a calf injury but was ready for the beginning of the regular season.

The 26-year-old, who was back in the NBA in 2014 after two years in the NBA D-League, looked poised to be the Heat's starting center, as he was competing with veterans Amar'e Stoudemire and Chris Andersen. 

Whiteside averaged 11.8 points per game last season, and his 62.8 field-goal percentage showed he is capable of being an efficient scorer. 

This season, he's been even better, averaging 12.5 points and a league-leading four blocks per game.
