Hassan Whiteside Ejected vs. Spurs: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside was ejected during the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 119-101 loss to the San Antonio Spurs after being charged with a flagrant-2 foul on Boban Marjanovic.

The NBA on ESPN reported Whiteside's abrupt exit. The foul occurred when he elbowed Marjanovic in the face while boxing out for a rebound off a Patty Mills free-throw attempt.



Mills made his shot from the charity stripe, diminishing the need for Whiteside to keep battling Marjanovic the way he did, much less throwing a right elbow. It wasn't the most malicious of moves, but it was enough for the officials to toss Whiteside from the game in American Airlines Arena.

"He's been pretty good to this point. He just had a lapse in judgement," Dwyane Wade said of Whiteside's incident afterward, per the Miami Herald's Ethan J. Skolnick. 

Wade added Whiteside is so quiet "sometimes you don't know what he's thinking," per Skolnick.

Sportsnet Stats pointed out this marks Whiteside's third ejection since the beginning of last season, which is the most in the NBA in that span.
