Hakim Warrick Making Good First Impressions

Have you ever, as a fan, just gotten a good vibe about a new player that is joining your team? I did today.

When I read that Hakim Warrick was going to be a member of the Suns, I’ll be perfectly honest. I had only heard his name mentioned. I did not know a single thing about him (yes this shames me a bit).

After reading a bit, I came to know an underachieving, but athletic player. He’s almost what I would consider a shorter, skinnier, less expensive, and slightly less talented version of Amar’e Stoudemire. I wasn’t what you would consider excited.

However, after reading his reaction to joining the Suns the day the announcement was made and a subsequent tweet Friday morning, there is something about him that just gives me the feeling that he is going to be really good here. It goes beyond the fact that his skill set is perfect for the offensive sets that the Suns play, or the fact that he is crazy athletic, or that, excluding Marcus Banks, every player elevates his game when playing with Steve Nash.

It is the fact that he seems genuinely excited to be here and feels that he will succeed.
