Greg Oden is back in the NBA. The top pick in the 2007 NBA draft will join the Miami Heat and hope his troublesome knees finally allow him to continue his once-promising basketball career.
ESPN's Jeff Goodman breaks down the deal:
Oden had been a free agent since March of last year, when the Portland Trail Blazers waived him following a string of setbacks in his recovery from a serious knee injury. The big man's last appearance in an NBA game was Dec. 5, 2009. Since then, it's been a constant cycle of recovery and setbacks for the former Ohio State star.
ESPN passes along this quote from Oden:
"When I had a conversation with Coach (Erik) Spoelstra and hearing how much he knew about the training stuff that I was already doing, it kind of made me feel like they know what's best for me," Oden said in a phone interview.
"I'm not going to sit here and say I'm 100 percent," Oden added. "I am moving (well) and I am feeling good, but I have a lot of work to do."
