Gordon Hayward Injury: Updates on Jazz Star’s Finger and Recovery

Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward dislocated his finger on Friday and may require surgery, according to the team. It is unclear when he will be able to return.

Latest on Hayward's Recovery Friday, Oct. 7 Jody Genessy of the Deseret News reported Hayward is expected to miss six weeks with the injury and will be evaluated again in three weeks.

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN.com, the dislocated finger on Hayward's left hand is being evaluated to determine the appropriate recovery process. 

The injury occurred when Hayward's hand got stuck in a teammate's jersey, according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune. Surgery is an option, but it's unclear if it will be required at this time, per Jones.

Injury Is Big Setback for Jazz with Season Approaching The Jazz had high hopes for Hayward when they selected him with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft out of Butler, and he has proved them right by improving in each of his six professional seasons.
