Behind first- and third-quarter explosions from Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors (33-2) rolled the Los Angeles Lakers (8-28), 109-88, Tuesday at the Staples Center.

Thompson dropped 22 points in the first quarter alone, then outscored the Lakers, 14-13, in the third quarter. He finished the game with 36 points on 12-of-22 shooting.

Stephen Curry added 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting and six assists. He had an injury scare in the third quarter when he came up limping after a shot to the shin, but returned to action shortly thereafter.

The Lakers were led by Jordan Clarkson, who scored 23 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Lou Williams and Ryan Kelly joined him in double figures with 10 points each.

The Warriors now lead the season series, 2-0, with the third matchup coming on January 14 at Oracle Arena.
