Golden State Gets Further Cap Relief, but Does It Matter?

I guess the most positive thing to say about the Warriors trade of Stephen Jackson and Acie Law for Vladimir Radmanovic and Raja Bell is the fact that Golden State franchise is now significantly under the salary cap.

With the trade, the Warriors are about 21 million dollars under the salary cap. That means that the Warriors could go after some of the top 2010 free agent players.

But even more troubling for Warriors fans is the rumor of Monta Ellis being traded as well.

With Ellis, the relationship between he and coach Don Nelson is all but gone.

Ellis was trying to be a leader by telling the team something and Nelson cut him off. Any franchise that actually had competent owners, would have fired Nelson on the spot.

Nelson has handled the development of Anthony Randolph with zero savvy. Randolph was supposed to make tremendous strides this season. That has not happened because Nelson uses him sporadically. 

Now Randolph seems to be playing with less hustle than before. All the confidence that Randolph had last year seems to have vanished. That can be traced right back to Nelson.
