Former NBA Player Jayson Williams Sentenced in Shooting

Remembering listening to the loudmouth rantings of Jayson Williams on the radio back when he was playing for the New Jersey Nets a million years ago made me want to lash out.

He'd take any chance he could to appear on WFAN out here in the New York metropolitan area "back in the day."

That day finally came to an end this afternoon in a court house in New Jersey as the former NBA player was sentenced today to five years in prison.

He's not talking now.

Can we please stop with the loaded weapons accidentally going off?

How many more stories do I have to endure involving athletes and guns that accidentally discharge themselves?

What is this? The Wild West? Too much down time for too many clowns?

The restaurant he mixed and mingled with on the night he shot a limousine driver to death is just off Interstate 78, not too far from my Western New Jersey home. I thought of that night as I passed by on my way home.

And his mansion sits in the township just off the beaten path from where I teach too.

Watching him break down in court at his sentencing hearing this afternoon was too much ...
