Former NBA PG Kevin Johnson Allegedly Hit with Pie, Punches Protester

Sacramento mayor and former NBA player Kevin Johnson was allegedly involved in a "bloody" incident during a benefit dinner at his former high school on Wednesday, per Nick Miller of the East Bay Express.

Miller cited sources who said a protester threw a pie at Johnson's face and then "reportedly said something to [him]," which prompted the former point guard to "allegedly tackle the protester and punch him in the face 'repeatedly,' more than half a dozen times."

Miller wrote that one witness described the scene as a "bloody pulp" after the incident. CBS Sacramento CBS13 provided the mugshot of the protester:



On Thursday, the protester, Sean Thompson, said Johnson overreacted, adding that he was "angry Johnson devoted so much political energy to an arena for the city's basketball team and not to other needs such as education and homelessness," per Alison Noon of the Associated Press.
