Former Cavaliers PG Booby Gibson Says He’s Leaving Basketball for Rap Career

During an appearance on Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club Friday morning, former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Daniel "Booby" Gibson said he's giving up his basketball career to dedicate himself to rapping.

Darn.

After spending seven years with the Cavs, Gibson has been without a contract since 2012-13. Barring a comeback, he'll finish with career averages of 7.8 points (40.2 percent shooting), 2.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 397 career games.

He said he's been working on his rap "project" for three or four years and also offered some a capella freestyle lyrics for the hosts (about 11:30 in).

Gibson said early in the interview that he had "the option to play in the league," but his love of music and the toll of injuries steered him toward rap.

If you're wondering whether he's any good—and you definitely are wondering that—check him out here. (Warning: NSFW lyrics)
