Forget About Bosh for a While: Amir Johnson Re-Signs With Toronto

With all this free agent hoopla, a lot of people have forgotten about the role players in free agency.

Amir Johnson is a solid piece, and is a very good interior defender, which is something the Raptors desperately need. Good thing Bryan Colangelo brought him back.

Amir has agreed to a five year, $34M deal, according to various NBA sources.

Now I know what your first reaction is. Overpaid? I thought so too. But then I thought real hard. Amir is only 23, and he will be under contract until he's 28. And his best years are coming up.

He will be a productive player along with the rest of the "Young Gunz" crew, which consists of DeMar DeRozan, Sonny Weems, and Amir. They seem to be ready to take over the Raptors if Bosh walks.

This is definitely a step in the right direction, and the Raptors will need all the help they can get next season if they want to contend.

It's a good thing Amir Johnson is back in town, because he loves Toronto and has become a fan favorite with his hustle. This is the exact type of player the Raptors need.

That's one thing off the Raptors offseason checklist.
