Denver Nuggets guard Emmanuel Mudiay left Friday's preseason contest against the Golden State Warriors with an ankle injury and would not return.

Latest on Mudiay's Injury Friday, Oct. 14 The Nuggets PR team announced Mudiay suffered a right ankle sprain.

The No. 7 pick in the 2015 NBA draft, Mudiay averaged 12.8 points, 5.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game as a rookie. Flashing elite athleticism and a nose for the basket, Mudiay showed off his immense potential at points. He was also one of the league's worst high-volume jump-shooters and lacked a feel for the game defensively.



Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly commented on the first-round pick's rookie season, per Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post:

Emmanuel has been fantastic. We went into this thing with eyes wide open. We knew there would be a lot of ups, maybe more downs.
