Early Christmas Presence: New York Knicks Surging Toward Playoffs

Get it? Christmas presence? Ah, I sleigh (slay) me.

All right, Christmas jokes aside, let's get down to business. The Knicks are a legitimate playoff contender again. Right?

Hopefully.

The realist in me wants to say yes, but he's not too sure about this rough stretch of games in December and January—the Knicks don't get a real break until a weekend matchup in early February, which consists of playing the 76ers twice and the LA Clippers once.

But the diehard, hopelessly romantic Knick fan in me wants to say, "Absolutely, we're shooting for that five or six spot in the playoffs!"

Let's just say the combination of my split personalities leads me to the conclusion that the Knicks WILL make the playoffs, but at best will get the seven seed and will most likely be stuck playing the Celtics, Magic or Heat in the first round...all tough matchups.

Then again, if the Knicks keep up what they're doing now, who knows what could happen. They're playing defense (well, better than they were), Raymond Felton is becoming, as a fellow Bleacher Report writer put it, the "D'Antoni-esque" point guard, and players who no one t ...
