Does Bill Simmons’ Trade Idea of Luol Deng to the Milwaukee Bucks Make Sense?

Clairvoyant Bill has given us a lot to talk about.

In the most recent episode of Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose's 2013 NBA Preview, Bill's alter-ego proposed a deal that would send the Milwaukee Bucks' Caron Butler and Ekpe Udoh to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Luol Deng.

I've been on board with a lot of Simmons' trade ideas during this series, but I have to suggest pumping the brakes on this one.

In terms of money, the deal works in ESPN's NBA Trade Machine. But how on earth does it benefit Chicago from a basketball standpoint? Or a financial standpoint for that matter?

You can't point to the value of Butler and Udoh being on expiring contracts. That's irrelevant because Deng is on one as well.

Back to the basketball side of things, I just can't see Chicago forfeiting a core that might contend for a title now that it has a healthy Derrick Rose in exchange for a downgrade at small forward and a backup center who might get one or two blocks a game.
