Dirk Nowitzki Injury: Updates on Mavericks Star’s Achilles and Return

The Dallas Mavericks' attempt to return to prominence in the Western Conference may have taken a major hit Friday, as star forward Dirk Nowitzki left the game and did not return after suffering an Achilles injury against the Portland Trail Blazers. 

It's unclear when he will be ready for action.

Carlisle Comments on Nowitzki's Recovery Timeline Friday, Nov. 4      Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said Nowitzki will be out for at least a week and added "it's bad news, but we'll get through it," per Bobby Karalla of the Mavs' official website.   

Nowitzki Still Plays Vital Role in Mavericks Offense  At 38 years old, Nowitzki continues to play a vital role for the Mavs, averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
