Dirk Nowitzki; Dallas Mavericks Set To Face San Antonio Spurs Without Him

The Dallas Mavericks are set to host the San Antonio Spurs tonight, but will likely be without All-Star Dirk Nowitzki for a second straight game. Nowitzki sat out Tuesday's game against the Raptors and the Mavericks really struggled to do much of anything offensively in a 84-76 loss at home.

San Antonio had no trouble against the Lakers on Tuesday, beating the defending champs 97-82 at home, despite getting just two points and four rebounds from Tim Duncan. Our NBA spreads indicate that the Spurs are 2.5-point favorites over the Mavericks at home.

If Nowitzki is unable to play tonight, the Mavericks are going to need someone else to pick up the scoring. Tuesday against the Raptors just three Mavericks scored in double figures. Jason Terry led the way with 18 points off the bench, while Caron Butler had 15 and Shawn Marion added 13.

The Mavericks did a good job defensively of keeping the game close, but Dallas just looked like a completely different team with Nowitzki on the court, and its going to take a few guys to step up their game for them to beat a team like San Antonio.
