Dallas Mavericks guard Devin Harris suffered a rib injury in the second quarter of his team's game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday and did not return. It is uncertain when he will be back on the court.

Latest on Harris' Playing Status Monday, Dec. 7 Harris told reporters he is "likely out" against the New York Knicks.

Harris' Injury Will Impact Mavs' Depth at Guard Positions  The 32-year-old, who is averaging 7.7 points per game this season—the fewest since his 2004-05 rookie season—scored seven points in nine minutes Sunday prior to the injury.

Harris, a point guard who can play the 2, was a starter early in his career but has come off the bench in all 20 of his games this season. He provides veteran leadership as a backup on the team.

If he is out for an extended period of time, it could be a big blow for the Mavericks. Entering Sunday's game, his 22 minutes per game were the most for any nonstarter on the Mavericks.
